Tasmanian Climate

Tasmania has a cool, temperate maritime climate with four distinct seasons. The pleasant Summer season lasts from December to February when the average maximum sea temperature is 21 °C (70 °F). Autumn is from March until May, when many European deciduous trees shed their leaves. The winter months are between June and August and are generally the wettest and coolest months, with the high country receiving significant snowfalls. Winter maximum temperatures are 12 °C (54 °F) in coastal areas, but inland the temperatures can fall well below zero. Spring, from September until November, is generally the windiest time of year. The highest temperature recorded is 42.2 C (108 F) in 2009 and the lowest recorded temperature is -13 C (8.6 F) in 1983.

Beautiful Accommodation

Tasmania’s northwest is a nature lover’s paradise, anchored by pretty Strahan on the edge of the West’s Wilderness World Heritage Area and a string of beachside villages on the windswept north coast. Towering mountains and reflective tranquil lakes, ancient rainforests and windswept sands characterise the two areas, making an escape to Northwest Tasmania accommodation a must stay. The lure of the wilds is tempered by magical waterfront harbours, towns steeped in history and a pretty hinterland home to local artisans. Come here to relax or explore. Choose between hundreds of properties, from beach houses, romantic retreats, and eco escapes to city hotels. Our team has personally selected and reviewed every property.
