Gordon River Cruises, Strahan

Cruising the Gordon River is one of Australia’s most spectacular wilderness experiences. Departing from Strahan in western Tasmania, the Gordon River Cruise gives you the opportunity to be first on the Gordon River each day to see the renowned river reflections as you cruise into UNESCO World Heritage wilderness.

After cruising across Macquarie Harbour, your wilderness tour takes you deep into the Tasmanian rainforest, stopping for a walking tour at Heritage Landing, on which you will see a 2000 year old Huon Pine. Breathe the cleanest air in the world and hear stories from our dedicated on-board guides. Later in the day, enjoy an interpretive tour of Sarah Island, once known as one of Australia’s hardest penal colonies. Hear tales of hardship amongst convicts – a stark contrast to the beauty of the area today. Your cruise will also take you to see ‘Hells Gates’, the mouth of Macquarie Harbour that would welcome the convicts to their new west coast home. We’ll also call in to a working fish farm to see some of the world’s finest salmon being grown in the cool Tasmanian waters.

A full buffet lunch is included in your cruise and if you are after a little something extra, why not cruise upstairs on the Captain’s Premier Upper Deck, where you can speak with the skipper and cruise in style.

Gordon River Cruises offers its flagship morning cruise as well as one of Tasmania’s most intimate wildlife tours, the Bonnet Island Experience and a number of flexible charter experiences.
